COURTYARD SPGs OFFER DIGITAL DIVERSITY

Farnham, 7 January 2003

Courtyard Electronics have introduced upgrades to their Digital Master SPG range that allow operation in all digital TV formats, both at standard and high definition. While being available on new product, users of existing CY430 SPGs continue to be supported and can update their equipment with the new capabilities.

The latest enhancements affect both video and audio. New video options include three video outputs that can be individually switched to PAL colour black, NTSC colour black or HD Tri-State Sync, and the ability to have simultaneous SDI Colour Bars and Test signal outputs. The new audio card lifts capabilities to match the latest broadcast requirements. Updates include the addition of 2 extra channels so that four channels of audio can be embedded into the SDI outputs if required. Greater versatility is provided by allowing users to embed silence onto the SDI colour black output while simultaneously embedding tone onto the SDI test output. These features complement the existing CY430 capabilities that include Word Clock to precisely lock audio equipment.

These enhancements not only minimise necessary SPG equipment but also aid multi-format operations such as conversion, where all sources are locked to the same crystal. Having all reference signals derived from the same frequency source is the ideal sync solution. It simplifies system engineering and virtually eliminates the possibility of problems caused by sync slips between separate references.

Courtyard has established a worldwide reputation as a major supplier of highly accurate, reliable and up-to-date sync and test pattern generating equipment. It has continued attending to customer needs and innovating to offer practical solutions for digital TV at affordable prices. Steve Cranny, Sales Director comments, “We’ve always kept our SPGs up to date with Television’s needs. There are always new demands and we are continuing to support our customers with their latest endeavours. These new features bring their SPGs bang up to date and offer HD and SD capability all from one box.”
